Most Olympic medals won (single games), men

According to Official Guinness Records,

Just two men in Olympic history have walked away from a single Games with eight medals: gymnast Aleksandr Nikolayevich Dityatin (USSR), who won three golds, four silvers and one bronze at the 1980 Games in Moscow, Russia, and US swimmer Michael Phelps (USA), who has achieved the feat twice. Phelps won six golds and two bronzes at Athens 2004 in Greece, and a remarkable eight golds at Beijing 2008 in China.
