US Holiday On June 17 2023?

The following is a compilation of American federal holidays, federal observances, state holidays and other common patriotic and national observances and commemorations that apply to the United States during Saturday, 2023-06-17:

  • National Flag Week - Day 7:

[fed-ob] The week of June 14 (Flag Day) is designated as the National Flag Week. During National Flag Week, the President of the United States will issue a proclamation urging U.S. citizens to fly the American flag for the duration of that week.
  • Honor America - Day 4:

Honor America Days are United States Federal Observances observed from June 14 to July 4. According to 36 U.S.C. § 112, the 21 days from Flag Day through Independence Day is a period to honor America. On these days, Congress declares that there be public gatherings and activities during that period at which the people of the United States can celebrate and honor their country in an appropriate way.
  • Destroyer Escort Day in Ohio:

[oh-sp] The third Saturday in June is designated as "Destroyer Escort Day in Ohio," in honor of the destroyer escort ships and the Ohioans who served on them during World War II, the Korean conflict, and the war in Vietnam.
  • Bunker Hill Day:

[suffolk] The Battle of Bunker Hill took place on June 17, 1775, mostly on and around Breed's Hill, during the Siege of Boston early in the American Revolutionary War. The battle is named after the adjacent Bunker Hill, which was peripherally involved in the battle and was the original objective of both colonial and British troops, and is occasionally referred to as the "Battle of Breed's Hill."

Notes:

[fed-ob] United States federal observances are days, weeks, months, or other periods designated by the United States Congress for the commemoration or other observance of various events, activities, or topics. These observances differ from Federal holidays in that Federal employees only receive a day free from work on holidays, not observances. Federal observances that are designated by Congress appear in Title 36 of the United States Code (36 U.S.C. § 101 et seq.).

[oh-sp] This is a special day, week or month by Statutory Designation in the State of Ohio.

[suffolk] Legal Holiday in Suffolk County, Massachusetts.
