Fastest swim long course 100 metres butterfly (male)

According to Official Guinness Records,

Michael Phelps won the 100 m butterfly at the 2009 FINA World Championships in 49.82 seconds in Rome, Italy, on 1 August 2009. He became the first swimmer to break 50 seconds in the event.
