First 2D animation

According to Official Guinness Records,

The first 2D animation was J Stuart Blackton's (USA, b. UK) Humorous Phases of Funny Faces (USA, 1906), a series of caricatures drawn in white chalk on a blackboard, shot one frame at a time, then wiped clean and redrawn.
