First armchair detective series

According to Official Guinness Records,

The first time the police used TV to appeal for help in a murder case was in Germany in 1938, and the first “missing person” appeal was made on 3 October 1943 by New York police. The first regular series to enlist the help of the public to solve real-life crimes was Police 5 (LWT, 1962–92), hosted by Shaw Taylor (UK).
