First cloud seeding experiment on a tropical cyclone

According to Official Guinness Records,

On 13 October 1947 the US military dumped 36 kg (80 lb) of dry ice into an Atlantic hurricane. "Pronounced modification of the cloud deck seeded" was recorded by the crew before the hurricane changed direction and hit the coast of Georgia. The damage caused by the cyclone was blamed on the experiment and the programme, Project Cirrus, was cancelled.
