First electric clock

According to Official Guinness Records,

The first electric clock was designed by the Scottish inventor Alexander Bain (1811–77) and patented in 1841. Although Bain employed a pendulum to measure time, as in conventional clocks of the day, he took the revolutionary step of powering it with an electric current rather than the traditional method of springs or weights. Bain is also credited with developing the basics of the fax machine in the late 1840s.
